Mayor John Tory welcomes the King and Queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Mayor John Tory, Deputy Mayor Pam McConnell (Councillor Ward 28 Toronto Centre-Rosedale) and City staff welcomed Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima on their state visit to Canada today. On behalf of the City of Toronto, Mayor Tory accepted the gift from the Netherlands of seven, orange Tulpi-chairs designed by Dutch designer, Marco Manders, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands by the Canadian Army in the Second World War.

Fifty new Canadians receive their citizenship at Toronto Paramedic Services headquarters today

Citizenship Judge Ruth Klein granted Canadian citizenship to 50 new Canadians at a Citizenship and Immigration Canada ceremony this morning at Toronto Paramedic Services headquarters, 4330 Dufferin St.

City of Toronto celebrates immigrants at inaugural Newcomer Day

Sixty people became citizens of Canada at a citizenship ceremony at City Hall today as part of the first annual Newcomer Day, which was hosted by the City of Toronto in partnership with the Toronto Newcomer Leadership Table. The leadership table is made up of representatives from Canada’s three orders of government, community agencies, school boards, health and other sectors.

Toronto Paramedic Services teach 60 students cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Toronto Paramedic Services demonstrated CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) to over 60 Grade 7 and 8 students at Edgewood Public School in Scarborough this morning.
