City Council adopts plan for children's services in Toronto over the next five years

Toronto City Council has approved a Children's Services 2015-2019 Service Plan that sets out a bold new vision for the system of services available to support children and families in Toronto. The services include child care, family-support programs, special-needs services and middle-childhood programs.

Peter Wallace appointed Toronto City Manager

At its meeting today, Toronto City Council appointed Peter Wallace as Toronto's City Manager, effective July 13. The City Manager is the most senior official in the City's administrative structure and is accountable to City Council for the policies and programs delivered by members of the Toronto Public Service.

Etobicoke in spotlight of Cultural Hotspot program

Councillor Mark Grimes (Ward 6 Etobicoke-Lakeshore) was joined by Councillors John Campbell (Ward 4 Etobicoke Centre) and Stephen Holyday (Ward 3 Etobicoke Centre) today in Etobicoke to help launch the second edition of the City of Toronto's Cultural Hotspot initiative.

Weekend event with road closures in Toronto - May 8th to 10th, 2015

A special event in Toronto this weekend – the Sporting Life 10k – will involve road closures on Sunday, May 10. Residents and visitors are encouraged to come out and enjoy this event. Businesses in the areas affected are open to pedestrian traffic but some roads will be closed to vehicles.

City of Toronto pilots parks wayfinding for Emergency Services

The City of Toronto's Parks, Forestry and Recreation division, in partnership with Toronto Police Service, Toronto Paramedic Services and Toronto Fire Services, is initiating an Emergency Services wayfinding pilot project in High Park and Centennial Park (Etobicoke) to improve the City's capacity to respond to emergencies and non-emergency/incidents in its parks.
