New 3D 'TORONTO' sign provides interactive fun for residents and visitors

Toronto residents and visitors are invited to visit Nathan Phillips Square to celebrate the City of Toronto's role as Host City of the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games – and to discover an interactive, three-dimensional, illuminated sign that spells out TORONTO.

Cities of Toronto and Sagamihara, Japan celebrate their cherry-blossom-tree planting project

City of Toronto representative Councillor Michael Thompson (Ward 37 Scarborough Centre), Chair of the Economic Development Committee, was joined by several Japanese dignitaries at an event today honouring the Friendship City agreement between Toronto and the City of Sagamihara, Japan. The Deputy Mayor of Sagamihara, Hiroaki Koike; Sagamihara's Council Chair, Yoshihiro Abe; the Consul-General of Japan in Toronto, Yasunori Nakayama; and Councillor Thompson celebrated a Sakura (cherry blossom) tree-planting project in Toronto.

Illumination of Toronto's Prince Edward Viaduct lights up the night

The Luminous Veil on the Prince Edward Viaduct (Bloor Street Bridge) was illuminated for the first time this evening as part of the City of Toronto's Pam Am Games Torch Relay community celebration.

Celebration of the Pan Am flame at three community events

The City of Toronto is holding three community events from July 7 to 9 to celebrate the Pan Am Games Torch Relay in Toronto. The torch relay arrived in Toronto on July 4 and will be travelling through the city until July 10 before its final stop at the Opening Ceremony for the Pan Am Games.

City of Toronto revamps road closures and restrictions website, installs new traffic cameras and message signs to assist residents

The City of Toronto has revamped its website with a new road restrictions map that will provide real-time information on roadwork and other activities that are taking place on city streets so residents can get around the city easily. Residents will have the opportunity to look at the impacts of the road restrictions and see the level of severity – ranging from major to moderate to minor – as they prepare to travel.
