Susan E. Opler appointed Ombudsman for City of Toronto

At its July meeting, City Council unanimously appointed Susan E. Opler as Toronto's Ombudsman, effective September 12. The Ombudsman works to ensure that the City treats the public fairly, and services are provided in a fair and equitable manner for all. The Ombudsman addresses concerns about City services and investigates complaints about administrative unfairness related to City divisions as well as most City agencies and corporations.

Based on information from Environment Canada, Dr. David McKeown, Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health, has issued a Heat Warning for Toronto today. The Heat Warning will be in effect until further notice.

City of Toronto reminds residents to make sure their properties are safe this summer

With the start of the summer vacation period, the City of Toronto is encouraging residents to be sure that proper safety mechanisms such as window-safety latches and pool fences are in place to prevent tragedies, particularly involving children under age five.

Mayor Tory announces new allowances for 550 Toronto families on City’s housing wait list

Mayor John Tory, joined by Toronto's Housing Advocate Councillor Ana Bailão (Ward 18 Davenport), today announced new housing allowances for 550 Toronto families on the City’s affordable housing waiting list. These are the first new housing allowances given to families since 2012.
